From flipping patties to flipping bits - my journey to becoming a software engineer
Hello, My name is Taani Maama! I am a software engineer at Amazon and I am currently working on content delivery within Prime Video. I am passionate about building scalable and reliable systems that can help people collaborate and work better together.
Since I was a kid, I have always been fascinated by technology. I grew up playing video games and enjoyed tinkering with computer hardware as well. I put together my first computer in middle school thanks to an interesting computer class I took. But life came around faster than expected and I found myself in the restaurant industry for a good portion of my twenties. I worked at a few different restaurants and eventually became a restaurant manager. I enjoyed the work but I knew that I wanted to do something more.
Fast forward to 2020 and a global pandemic later, I decided to take the plunge and pursue my passion for technology. I enrolled in a coding bootcamp and started my journey to becoming a software engineer. I learned a lot in a short amount of time, have made some great friends along the way, and I am excited to continue learning and growing as a software engineer.
Since the bootcamp I have found myself enthralled by the world of software and what can be built. I have spent time working on live trivia games working on UI and accessibility and now find myself in the world of video. I am excited to see what the future holds and I am looking forward to building more cool things!
